Crotonese journalists again on the stage for solidarity. Thursday 10 July, in fact, in the municipal villa of Viale Regina Margherita, “The days” will stage the comedy “Pythagoras come back?!”. The beginning of the show – sponsored by the Municipality of Crotone, which has included the appointment of the summer billboard – is scheduled for 9 pm. The theatrical work born from an idea by Giacinto Carvelli, has been enriched by ideas and suggestions that came by all the protagonists of the Comedy, whose direction was curated once again by Rodolfo Calaminici.

The protagonist of the fun and surreal story is the Greek philosopher and mathematician, ????? (‘again’, in Crotone dialect) in Crotone with a family in tow to re -establish his school and obtain a revenge on the Crotonese, guilty of having hunted it in the past from the city. A mission, that of Pythagoras, “supervised” by heaven and Olympus, which will prove more difficult than expected.

“Pythagoras returned to Crotone to see how the situation is,” explains the author Giacinto Carvelli. “It didn’t go well the first time and hopes to take a sort of revenge with the Crotonese and see especially if Crotone has improved as a city compared to when he was there.” A historical detail, as Carvelli recalls, is that Pythagoras was at the time hunted by Crotone by the Crotonese themselves.

The piece, between an improbable reinterpretation of some mythological characters of the Magnogreca tradition and hilarious gags, returns with the satire paradox of the comedy, a cross -section of the city of Crotone, with incursions in the past and in the contemporary. The absurd of Ionesco and the comedy of De Filippo, mix in some scenes and give life to surreal dialogues not to be missed.
The show offers pure comedy moments, ironic and pungent, alternating with cinematographic, theatrical and musical quotations. A comedy that does not only want to give smiles, but also to invite to reflection: everyone must do their part to allow the city of Crotone to solve the many problems that have long afflicted it.

“This voluntary activity is precisely for the social, for charity, to try to help those who need,”, added director Rodolfo Calaminici. “This year the tests have presented some more difficulties because the reciting group is very populous, so putting them all in agreement is difficult. Then, they are very busy journalists in the city of Crotone and in the province, so it is clear that you have to have a lot of patience as I and I too.” Despite the complexities, the director concludes with a note of optimism: “We like the challenges and we overcome them every time.”

It is the third consecutive year that Crotone journalists improvise actors by solidarity: in 2023 they staged “The journalists lived” and in 2024 “Comedy Kriminale: Saints I Gghjiesa and Diavuli i Casa”, to support some local associations engaged in social.

Also this year, in fact, the purpose of the evening is beneficial: the collection will be donated to the National Association without vision and partially sighted of Crotone, for the purchase of tandem, fundamental tools to encourage the inclusion and freedom of movement of blind people.
