It’s not just a question of names. The game that is starting to be played for the 2027 municipal elections is manifesting itself with a possible reorganization of the city’s political framework. Both in the center-right and center-left homes. In fact, if no one has yet made official their willingness to run for the leadership of the city, the first moves are already visible on the “battle” ground.
If anyone was thinking of a monolithic center-right they will have been disappointed. Yet there are already possible names: someone, like Sergio Abramo, already proposed months ago, with the support of part of Forza Italia but with other supports yet to be identified; Filippo Mancuso (Lega), who has never hidden his interest in the city but who, at the same time, could look to Parliament today; Aldo Ferrara, president of the Calabrian industrialists, is a figure that Fratelli d’Italia would willingly propose and could also have the support of at least part of Forza Italia itself. The blue party, however, is in a transition phase. In fact, the name of Sergio Costanzo is emerging within it.
In the center-left house, much will depend on the decision of the mayor Nicola Fiorita. If he is still the one to run again to ask for a second mandate, resisting the sirens of a seat in Parliament, the coalition should easily find a solution. Otherwise, there will be many components at play. In the outgoing administration, the figures of Giusy Iemma (Pd) and Gianmichele Bosco (Italian Left) are indicated among the most expendable; but they too could be at stake in politics.
