The port of the small islands, a certainly central theme for those who live there. In this perspective, the Twelve projects for consolidation and prevention of seismic risk, in the port structures of the minor islands, with which the Sicilian Region will participate in the public notice issued by the Prime Minister, the Casa Italia Department. This was decided by the regional council, on the proposal of theCouncilor for Infrastructure and Mobility, Alessandro Aricò. “We made a selection of the projects to be submitted to the notice – underlines Aricò -, giving response to the needs of many maritime airports of our archipelagos with the aim of making them safe, even more after the damage suffered by the recent episodes of bad weather. We focus on consolidation works of many landings, from the Aeolian to the Egadi, up to Lampedusa and Pantelleria. Our department has carried out a close work that will allow us to join the notice within the imminent deadline “.
As regards the Aeolians, the projects concern seismic adjustment, consolidation and redevelopment of the ports of Santa Marina, Rinlla and Scalo Galera in Malfa, on the island of Salina; of the landings of Alicudi, Filicudi and Panarea; of the Porto Pignataro and the Pontile di Acquacalda in Lipari; of the Civil Protection pier in Ficogrande in Stromboli. The deadline for presenting the projects is set by midnight today. The overall budget is 30 million, the maximum financing amount granted is 5 million for each island. In addition to the Aeolian Islands, these are the other projects identified by the Department. For the Egadi: extraordinary maintenance works of the landings and construction of the lighting system at the port of Favignana. For the pelagias: safety interventions of Molo Favaloro’s docks in Lampedusa, to strengthen the moorings of the naval rescue vehicles. For Pantelleria, the strengthening of the overflugal dam of the port of Scauri for the realization of an alternative landing.
