It took place yesterday, 8 July 2025, at the headquarters of the Port System Authority of the Strait, a meeting summoned by the extraordinary commissioner Francesco Rizzowith the general and sector secretariats of the union acronyms respectively CGIL with Pietro Patti, Carmelo Garufi, Giuseppe Mobilia and Valeria Tringali, Cisl with Letterio D’Amico and M. Cristiana Laurà, Uil with Ivan Tripodi, Antonino Di Mento and Andrea Nostra.

The meeting, characterized by a climate of constructive comparison and full collaboration between the parties, represented an important moment of analysis and programming regarding future initiatives concerning the employee of the body. Common goal: identify concrete and shared solutions to enhance and redevelop human resources through virtuous paths, capable of effectively responding to new operational and organizational challenges.

One of the central themes addressed during the meeting was that relating to the expansion of the current organic staff of the Port System Authority of the Strait. Commissioner Rizzo highlighted how the body is going through a phase of strong organizational pressure, having to face the management of numerous infrastructure interventions, strategic planning and digitization already in the design or construction phase that play a fundamental role not only for the city of Messina, but for the whole territory included in its jurisdiction.

In this context, a full convergence emerged between the commissioner and trade union organizations on the need to Start an insolvency phase for the expansion of the organic plant which provides for 65 resources against the 31 employees today in service, that is less than half.

This is a measure deemed no longer postponable, aimed at guaranteeing adequate technical-administrative support and greater operational efficiency of the body. The unions, in fact, underlined how the strengthening of the staff is an essential condition to respond to the increasingly complex and articulated needs of the system authority. The shared request is to proceed in relatively quick times to the preparation of bankruptcy procedures and, at the same time, to create opportunities for growth and welfare for resources in service.

The parties have committed themselves to maintaining a permanent comparison that will be explained through the performance of a series of further meetings in the coming weeks in order to monitor the implementation of the programmatic lines discussed, as well as to guarantee the full sharing of future strategic choices.

Finally, the Port System Authority and the Confederal Union Secretariats confirm the common will to continue along a path of transparent and participated dialogue in the full awareness that only through the strengthening of human capital will it be possible to successfully face the challenges of infrastructure and logistical development that awaits the port system in the Strait area.
