The close checks of the Coast Guard of Crotone along the Crotone coast as part of the operation “Safe Sea and Lakes 2025”with particular attention to the illegal occupations of the maritime state property and the safety of the bathing establishments. In the last few hours, the soldiers of the Port Authority have ascertained new violations in Cirò Marina, where 1,600 square meters of public beach occupied without authorization from two bathing establishments were cleared.

In the first case, the control detected an abusive occupation of 970 square meters through the unauthorized positioning of umbrellas and deck chairs. In the second factory, the military found an additional irregular occupation of 630 square meters, also carried out without concession. In both cases, the owners were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Crotone for the crime of illegal employment of maritime state -owned soil and the areas were immediately cleared.

The activity conducted by the Coast Guard has also activated the reporting to the territorially competent Municipality, which can now proceed with the quantification of the compensation due for illegal employment and the relative recovery in favor of the Treasury.

But it doesn’t end here: The controls also highlighted numerous violations of the seaside safety standards contained in order no. 28/2025 issued on April 22nd. In particular, in several factories the absence of lifeguards or a sufficient number of rescue stations, as well as irregular signs that indicated limited time slots for the activation of the rescue service, was contested, in contrast with the provisions of the legislation. In some cases, the rescue staff was completely absent, although the factories were open and frequented by swimmers.

Following the investigations, administrative penalties were imposed for a total amount greater than 11,000 euros. The irregularities were immediately remedied at the request of the military, who also warned the owners to rigorous compliance with the rules placed to protect public safety.

The control activities will also continue in the next few days, in close collaboration with the Public Prosecutor of Crotone, led by the prosecutor Domenico Guarascio, with the aim of fighting any form of abuse that limits the collective use of public goods such as the maritime state property and guarantee maximum safety for residents and tourists.
