The official is still missing but it is only a matter of days. This week will in fact be decisive to confirm the extension of another year of the Convention with the “Bambino Gesù” hospital, expiring on July 31, to keep the pediatric cardiac surgery department of the “San Vincenzo” hospital active in Taormina.
The regional government sent the request to the Ministry of Health, pending a possible derogation from the Balduzzi decree to maintain two structures in Sicily, with the insertion of the department into the “hospital network” through the connection with an existing cardiac surgery. The choice should take place between the “Papardo” hospital in Messina (which however is a first level goddess) and the Polyclinic of Catania (second level goddess).
The clear will to keep the pediatric cardiac surgery of Taormina alive also comes from the Sicilian regional assembly.
