A serious accident at work occurred in the early afternoon in Altomonte, in the Corvo district. A 60 -year -old man, residing in Malvito, lost his life after being overwhelmed by a containment wall during some demolition operations.
According to the first reconstructions, the victim was near the structure together with a colleague who was maneuvering an excavator. The two workers were engaged in dismantling the barrier when, for reasons still in the assessment phase, the wall suddenly collapsed, crushing the man.
Rescue was immediate, but unfortunately there was nothing for the worker to do. The carabinieri of the local station and the Castrovillari operating unit intervened on the accident site for the necessary findings. The judiciary has started an investigation to clarify the dynamics of the incident and ascertain any responsibilities.
