At the start in Tusa, in the Messina area, the consolidation of the rocky ridge on which the Castle of San Giorgio stands out. The structure for the contrast of the hydrogeological instability, led by the president of the Sicilian Region Renato Schifani, gives news. The offices directed by Sergio Tumminello have made official the successful tenderer of the contract: to carry out the works, by virtue of a drop of 33.1 percent and for an amount of 655 thousand euros, will be the Antonino Chillè srl of Saponara (ME).
The work consists in the stabilization of the area on which the San Giorgio fortress develops, with the consolidation of the East and West side. The goal is to eliminate the hydrogeological risk on a side overlooking the sea of Castel di Tusa and in which, starting from 2009, numerous collapses of portions of rock have occurred. A situation that forced the municipal administration to run for cover, closing that stretch of beach.
Among the technical solutions contemplated by the project, the cleaning of the shrubs on the two sides and the consolidation of the rocky wall. We will then proceed with the detachment of the boulders in precarious balance and with the demolition of those of high size. Lastly, a double twisting metal network will be placed with hexagonal shirts and network panels, not before having sealed the crepes of the ridge with cement mixture in order to avoid the infiltrations of rainwater.
