The Public Prosecutor of Paola opened an investigation for manslaughter about the death of Antonio Maio, a 33 -year -old worker, who died on 25 July in Praia a Mare, in the Cosenza area, near the city hospital where he had gone after having accused an illness in a construction site in the town in which he had worked. 7 people are investigated in the investigation: the employer, 2 Cuban doctors defended by the lawyer Emilio Perfetti, an anesthesiologist and three between nurses and Oss.
This afternoon, the Public Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Domenico Fiordalisi, ordered the autopsy on Maio’s body. The autoptic exam will be performed tomorrow in Catanzaro by Dr. Isabella Aquila. It is aimed at establishing the causes of the death of the young worker of Praia a Mare, who was married and father of a child. The episode, in particular in the union field, had been put in relation to the high temperatures, over 35 degrees, recorded on the day of the death.
The investigation of the Paola prosecutor’s office follows a double track: on the one hand in reference to any employers’ responsibilities, also on the safety of the workplace, and on the other hand in reference to the health rescue lent to Maio at the Emergency Department of Praia a Mare.
