During the meeting, the general manager, Giuseppe Iritano, was highlighted, the need to proceed with the revision of the current plan, dating back to 2003, to adapt it to the new European and national regulations, as well as the profound ecological and social changes that have affected the regional territory in the last two decades.

The new plan will have to respond to current and complex challenges, including the uncontrolled diffusion of the wild boar and the related critical issues in the agricultural and health sector; the growing anthropic pressure on natural and faunal habitats; the effects of climate change on regional ecosystems; the need for sustainable management of wildlife and hunting activities; The urgency to equip themselves with modern and scientifically founded tools of faunal-environmental planning.

In line with the consolidated practice of the Agriculture Department and with an approach oriented to concertation, it was decided to start a multidisciplinary and participated technical table, which will involve institutions, local authorities, environmental and hunting associations, bearers of interest and expert subjects in the sector.

During the meeting, the preliminary documents of the plan were presented to transpose the first observations of the stakeholders.

The new plan will be elaborated in close collaboration with ISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) and will see the joint coordination between the regional agricultural departments, the territory and the protection of the environment, the protection of health and welfare, guaranteeing consistency with regional environmental, agricultural and health policies.
