The XXIIII edition of the Horcynus Festival is in full swing, which this year has as its theme “Utopias, dystopias, eutopias”. Yesterday evening La Nueva Ola kicked off “, the Spanish and Latin American Film Festival, curated by Federico Sartori and Iris Martín-Peralta (Exit Media), scheduled until Friday 1 August. The event was inaugurated by the awarding of the Horcynus Festival 2025 award to the memory of the great Spanish director Carlos Saura, who was retired by his daughter Anna. The film Ay Carmela! From today the workshops will begin “Le Jurnate del Design”, which represent a new and significant event of the Festival, scheduled from 16 to 18 at the Consolo room of the Horcynus Orca Park of Capo Peloro. An international appointment, which will end on Saturday 2 August, curated by the Komad – Kolletive but Anke Design collective, founded by Luca Fois, Camilla Guerci and Giadamaria Battiato, on the inspiration of the Messina Foundation: this new reality was born with the aim of involving young people, designers, to promote the culture and method of design, anthropology and other related disciplines, to transform visions into real projects, utopics, in Sicily and beyond.

Friday 1 August at 19:00 at the Macho Museum, the dance performance operates first by the Spazio22 Compagnia is scheduled. At 9.00 pm for the Festival La Nueva Ola there will be the projections of Carmen (2025) by Andrew Margetson and Soy Nevenka (my name is Nevenka) (2024) by ICIAR Bollain.

The program of 2 August will see the replica of the performance opera first of Spazio22 at 19.00 at the Macho Museum. Following a music reading will take place by the Kubla Khan nucleus and Giorgio Caporale and the inauguration of the text and photographic path dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini.

At 9.00 pm the Archipelaghi Cinema Section of the Vision – Window on the Berlinal with the projections of Tako Tsubo, (animation, 2024) of Pedroza, Sorgo and Pedraza López, comment ça, will start (2025) by Jonathan Vinel and Caroline Poggi, pendant Ce Temps Sur Terre (2024), by Jeremy Clapin. Guests of the evening Daniela Weber (Berlinal), Kubla Kubla Khan and Giorgio Caporale.

On the evening of Sunday 3 August he will continue with Vision Archipelaghi – Window on the Berlinal with the Kavauso films (animation, 2024), by Akihito Izuhara, Pacific Vein (animation, 2024), by Ulu Braun and Architecton (2024) by Victor Kossakovsky.

The HF2025 has the artistic direction of Franco Jannuzzi and Giacomo Farina and is created by the Horcynus Orca Foundation and the Messina Foundation and, over the years, with the support of: Mic, Sicilian Region, Tourism, Sport and Entertainment Department, Sicily Film Commission, University of Messina, Municipality of Messina, Metropolitan City of Messina, ATM – Messina Transport Company, social company with children.
