From the end of May to mid -July, the prosecutor of Barcelona, directed by the chief prosecutor Giuseppe Verzera, faced three different investigations for as many distinct murders. Despite a reduced staff, the pool of magistrates – the substitutes Veronica De Toni, Dora Esposito and Luca Gorgone – led Carabinieri and police in a tight investigative activity in order to identify the alleged managers of the three crimes that took place between Barcelona, Milazzo and the Peace of the Apple.
