The pilgrims who plan to visit the Sanctuary of Polsi, or participate in the novena that begins on August 24 and the feast of September 2, will have to have a lot of patience, trust, and why not, praying relying on the Madonna della Montagna. An order, the number 4 of 30 July, signed by the three commissioners who are managing the Municipality of San Luca, established the immediate closure of the stretch of road that descends from the forest toll booth descends to the sanctuary. The urgent measure was necessary because-following an inspection carried out in order to verify the state of the places and deliver the work to the company for the opening of the “Ionian-Polsi” access road site-it was noticed that the final stretch of the road at the height of the area called “Vallone della Gozza” is threatened by a landslide. Hence the need to prohibit access not only to motor vehicles but also to pedestrians, and to prepare all the necessary interventions in hand to allow the transit to the numerous pilgrims who want to face the sanctuary, as explained and requested by the rector of the Sanctuary Don Tonino Saraco.
