The autopsy on Antonio Blaganò’s body, the 67 -year -old doctor from Lamezia Terme who passed away from 24 July, was arranged. The corpse was found yesterday afternoon, August 1, around 5 pm inside a reed in an impervious area near the Savuto river, in Serra di San Mango d’Aquino.
The discovery took place within the provincial research plan of disappeared people, activated on July 25 and coordinated by the prefecture of Catanzaro. To identify the body were the carabinieri of the “Calabria Calabria Cacciatori” Squadron, engaged in research in the area.
The discovery 5 km from the abandoned car
The man’s body was found about 5 km away from the place where, in the night between 24 and 25 July, the soldiers of the Carabinieri Company of Lamezia Terme had found the abandoned car of Blaganò. The vehicle had been found in an interpoderal road in the Buda district, area on the border between the municipalities of Nocera Terinese and San Mango d’Aquino.
According to what emerged, the doctor would have voluntarily moved away after finishing his own medical guard shift at the Nocera Terinese assistance office.
Investigations and investigations in progress
The specialists of the Operational Department – Investigation Unit of the Carabinieri of Catanzaro for the technical findings intervened on the site of the discovery, while the coroner carried out a first external examination of the body. The body was transported to the mortuary of the cemetery of Catanzaro, where it will remain available to the judicial authority.
It will now be the autoptic exam, arranged by the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Lamezia Terme, to clarify the causes of death and reconstruct the exact dynamics of events. The investigations are still ongoing.
