«A dramatic phase opens, unpublished and full of unknowns for Calabria, with insidious scenarios and perspectives that are anything but reassuring. Even the return to the polls could prove to be a useless exercise, if not managed clearly and consistently by political forces ». To say it, in a note, is Carlo Guccione, exponent of the National Directorate of the Democratic Party, intervening in the debate following the resignation of President Occhiuto.
“Resignation related to the judicial investigation”
«It is objective and without a vein of controversy – underlines Guccione – that the resignation of Roberto Occhiuto are closely linked to the development of the judicial investigation that concerns him. Tajani himself said it, otherwise I wouldn’t have intervened. It is enough to look at what happened in Liguria, where the former President Toti was subjected to restrictive measures precisely for not having resigned ».
According to Guccione, “without hypocrisy, we owe it to Calabria and the Calabrians: we cannot keep them in a state of institutional precariousness. Even the hypothesis of new elections risks revealing itself non -decisive, given the profound confusion within the center -right ».
Criticism also to the center -left and the government
There is no lack of self -critical passage: «In the regional council the opposition was almost non -existent. And in the center -right field – he adds – there are strong contradictions, latent tensions and even friendly fire, not only from calenda and action ».
Finally, Guccione raises a matter of institutional transparency: «It would be a democratic vulnus if a resigning president continued to maintain the task of commissioner ad acta for health and the realization of the new hospitals. On this it is necessary to clarify and even the national government cannot pretend anything ».
“A large coalition is needed, without pre -established formulas”
The PD manager also launches an appeal to his party: “It is necessary to build an inclusive coalition, without rigid formulas, which starts from the Calabrian reality and can also attract the moderates looking for a credible alternative to the current regional government.
