Listed answers, escape from responsibility but also from reality. This is the judgment expressed by CGIL Calabria on the work of the former President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto and on his flash resignation, the result of an “irresponsible decision”.
During the executive that took place yesterday in Lamezia Terme the general secretary Gianfranco Trotta and the secretariat, as well as the general secretaries of the territories and categories, reiterated the negative judgment on the mandate of the former governor.
The choice to resign is an act of institutional irresponsibility for CGIL, a strategic decision in its favor that leaves Calabria blocked on different fronts.
In Occhiuto, the union asks for an account of a right to non-pauding health and an emergency-urgency service in a ruinous state, underlining that the political communication of the former president, made of slogans and Reel, was not followed by facts and the announcements remained such.
The CGIL is concerned with the small percentage of pnrr funds spent and the lack of an industrial plan. The union denounces the failure to call the table on tourism and the dangerous situation of the former Abraham workers now hired in Connecta. At the moment only some health companies have sent the medical records to be digitized, so much so that in some cases the forced holidays are being used. If the situation does not unravel the workers, they will be exposed again at conditions of vulnerability.
The Tis node as regards the excluded from stabilization is also blocked due to the governor’s resignation. The path foreseen for them does not fall within the ordinary administration and for now is forced to stop. Alarming the fact that several municipal administrations have stabilized workers and workers for only 12 hours a week – CGIL reports – with mortifying and significantly reduced wages compared to the previous phase. A similar situation is that of the former LSU and former LPU. For some time the union organization has been engaged in requests and tables so that working hours are expanded, but the Region has not kept faith with what was agreed on a full contractization of this basin.
On high speed CGIL is forced to admit that she has always seen us right. For years the union has denounced the absence of funds and of a real non -will and interest to complete the railway line to Reggio Calabria. Now the high speed has been definitively canceled with all due respect to those who drew alarmism cgil. But if in Calabria it is increasingly difficult to arrive, this government and the former governor focus on the bridge as a strategic work and as a diversion to put the disastrous infrastructure situation under the carpet.
The situation in which our territory is pouring, from hydrogeological instability to the fire alarm, to the landslides, for years we have been asking for an extraordinary plan of hiring in green Calabria for years and we do not share the proposal for the privatization of the management of maintenance advanced by this council, remains striking. Also on energy we ask for a new energy plan and denounce a failure to involve the investments on the territory of the investee companies.
The table on the elderly are never convened. In a territory intended for demographic winter, rich in internal areas without services and infrastructures, marginalize the elderly, that is, 27 percent of the current population means mortifying the elderly of today and not building anything for those of tomorrow. Without forgetting that Calabri is the region with the largest number of minimum pensions throughout Italy. Letting health be a right only for those who can afford it means to debase the Constitution and puncture private health. A deficient welfare and insufficient services do not weigh only on pensioners, but also on young people today who go elsewhere to look for a better quality of life.
The region that has never started a serious confrontation on sustainable industrial policies, nor defined an energy plan capable of responding to the real needs of the Calabrians. Calabria today undergoes the failure of the single ZES which, instead of being strengthened with adequate resources, is further weakened by the extension to other regions without any increase in the available funds.
The CGIL Calabria does not affect the Toto names of those who will challenge the center right into the imminent regional elections. It is interested that political forces find unity on the themes of the work of infrastructure, health, social, energy and industrial policies as well as transport, tertiary and services in order to face the electoral competition with a large and united coalition, without divisions and personalisms.
