The municipal administration looks to the future with the updating of the beach plan of the city of Catanzaro, aiming to harmonize the urban planning tool with the most recent directives regarding maritime state concessions and, at the same time, adapt the document to the development needs of the territory. The political will of the entity is summarized in the deed of address approved in the last meeting of the junta, chaired by the mayor Nicola Fiorita, listened to the report of the deputy mayor with delegation to territorial planning, Giusy Iemma.
“This is another important step forward in the complex work of regulatory and setting up the urban sector compared to a municipal beach plan whose last drafting dates back to over ten years ago”, highlights the same Iemma. “The junta has therefore given a mandate to the sector to start the updating procedures taking into account the evolution which, in this glimpse of administration, has affected the design of the completion of the port and considering, in general, the building, economic and tourist development of the Lido district which needs to be ruled. Commitment that marries with a political vision based on the environmental protection and the sustainable management of our beach and the coastal heritage”.
Among the specifications indicated in the Council resolution, the opportunity to update the beach plan is also highlighted to insert the regional natural reserve Le dunes of young man of the new institution; To verify and update the existing state of the urbanization works and evaluate the need for service and parking areas with specific regulation of use and maintenance; To include in the planning, the project to complete the works of the port and annex a state concession area for a bathing establishment, sports activities and parking area, located in adherence to the pier of the North-East port. Furthermore, in the deed of address we refer to the need to evaluate the insertion of a state -regulated state concession for access to dogs (Bau Beach), the insertion of further concessions for storage of Alaggio and Varo, the assignment of the management of the existing kiosks on the Lungomare di Giovino.
