The IV Stage dedicated to sacred music in Sicily in the 16th and 17th centuries, held by Maestro Paolo Da Col, illustrious musician and musician of international fame, will take place from 10 August at Palacultura, together with the teachers of vocality Alessandro Carmignani, Gianluca Ferrarini, Jennifer Schitino and Marcello Vargetto, who will take care of performance and interpretative aspects of soloists, from all over Italy. This edition, which makes use of the patronage of the Municipality of Messina and the support of the Archdiocese of Messina, Lipari and S. Lucia del Mela, will be dedicated to some unpublished pages of Vincenzo Tozzi, composer of Roman origins, who was a chapel master of the Cathedral of Messina from 1640 to 1675. The final concert, which will take place on 10 August at 9.00 pm at the church of the SS. Salvatore, will therefore be an important opportunity for the Messina public, who will be able to listen to the reconstruction of a solemn mass for the first time in modern times, as could probably have occurred in the mid -17th century, in honor of the patron saint, the Madonna of the letter.

In addition to this concert, the APS Ludus Orionis chaired by Marcello Vargetto, with the artistic direction of Santina Tomasello, on August 8 at 9.00 pm on the Monte di Pietà – as part of the summer billboard promoted by the Messina Foundation for culture – will propose the Sicilian retablum show, a sound tableau divided into four sections, each dedicated to different authors and repertoires, however united by the island origin Arch of time that covers all the seventeenth century. The first picture is dedicated entirely to Sigismondo d’India, the second is a fresco of the sound landscape that animated parties and banquets in the Messina noble palaces; The third focuses on the musical production linked to the practice of “singing the Cecilian octaves”; Finally, the fourth is a tribute to the immense figure of Alessandro Scarlatti, in the third centenary of death. The various musical moments will be introduced and commented by the reciting voice of Elio Crifò.

Ludus Orionis Ensemble is made up of Jennifer Schitino and Santina Tomasello Soprani, Alessandro Carmignani Alto, Gianluca Ferrarini Tenore, Marcello Vargetto Basso, Giannalisa Arena Clavamboalo, Silvio Natoli Tiorba, guitar and leg violet. The concerts will both be directed by Maestro Paolo da Col.
The works of the internship will also make use of the precious contribution of the masters Giannalisa Arena, Maria Carmela De Cicco, Nazzareno De Benedetto, Giovanni Lombardo, Enrico Rotoli and Alessandro Vargetto.
