A series of control activities arranged by the Vibo Valentia Aironavale Operational Department aimed at protecting the interests of the Treasury, the protection of the environment and the safety of the hundreds of swimmers who in the summer are poured along the Calabro coast. Two lookouts in force in the Naval Operational Section of Roccella Jonica, during a service cruise in waters in front of the Municipality of Bovalino, subjected the pleasure units to navigate in areas intended for the seaside use. The same boats were moored in areas not allowed through the use of invasive structures made through the laying of “dead bodies”, consisting of submerged cement blocks to which a top and a gavitello -type floating body is ensured, in order to create nautical anchor points. This water mirror of about 1200 square meters falling within the municipality of Bovalino, was actually used as Campo Boe, also given the presence of numerous boats at the foundation. But no ordering ordinance to bathing and navigation was found, as well as no administrative act of maritime state concession. Furthermore, the illegal occupation of a fenced sandy area of approximately 3000 square meters also deprives this of concession title, therefore the entire aerial was subjected to seizure. The deputy prosecutor of Locri, informed of the facts, therefore ordered to contact the local maritime district office in order to issue an order aimed at preventing possible damage to things and/or people and to guarantee greater safety of bathers, as the creation of these mooring structures, if not authorized, constitutes both an environmental and public safety danger.
