The Operating Unit of Education and Promotion to the Health of the ASP of Messina has joined the 26th edition of the national campaign “Holidays with bows”, promoted by the Antarctica Center, to raise awareness of citizens and tourists on the importance of road safety, especially in the periods of greater summer traffic.

The program of initiatives, in line with the regional prevention plan, includes two highlights on 13 and 30 August. In these dates, information materials and Etilotest kit will be distributed on board Caronte & Tourist ships in the Strait of Messina, thanks to the support of the Misericordia Association and other local realities. Heads will also be active in the motorway service areas of Tremestieri and prohibition, in collaboration with the Traffic Police, while information campers will reach a seaside resort such as Ganzirri and Torre Faro. Information points are also planned in the shores of the northern area of Messina and educational messages in the motorway toll booths by the Sicilian Autostrade Consortium.

The campaign will also involve several municipalities of the Nebrodi and the Tyrrhenian coast, with events created together with mayors, pro loco and local associations. From September, the project will continue with educational activities in schools and prevention actions on public evenings and night clubs.

“Prevention and awareness can make a difference – said Chiara Schirò, contact person of the unit – Road safety is an essential aspect of public health: driving with caution is a gesture of love towards oneself and others”.

The general manager Giuseppe Cuccì, together with the strategic direction of the ASP, stressed that the goal is “to promote education and responsibility, for a summer of serenity and prevention. Only together can we reduce the risks and build a safety network for our territory”.

Partner of the initiative, in addition to Caronte & Tourist and Traffic Police, also the Municipal Police, the CAS, Volunteer Associations such as Misericordia and Nova Militia Christi, Civil Protection, AIFVS and other local realities. The focus will be on the dangers related to distraction, speed, use of alcohol and substances and tiredness, to promote responsible guide and save lives.
