The mayor of Catanzaro, Nicola Fiorita, as a local civil protection authority, issued ordinance no. 61/25 with the provisions for the prevention of forest fire risk and environmental protection, in particular in the municipal green areas.
The measure takes into account that, especially in mid -August, areas such as the pine forest of the Pietà di Giovino will be the destination of numerous residents and tourists. For this reason, the measures already adopted for the pine forest have been recalled and integrated, concerning the circulation and parking of vehicles, with a prohibition and forced removal signs, in addition to the correct transfer of waste.
For August 15, the ordinance strictly prohibits: turn on fires of all kinds; use flame or electric devices to cut metals; use engines, stoves or incinerators who produce sparks or grown (except specific authorizations); smoking or throwing heated butts; carry out pyrotechnic activities or launch flying lanterns; transit or stop with vehicles on non -asphalted viability in the wooded areas, except for means of service; stop or stop on dry vegetation with hot engine.
The police bodies, the commands of belonging and the local police are in charge of supervising compliance with the provisions. The ordinance was sent to the Prefect, to the Quaestor, to the provincial leaders of the carabinieri and firefighters, and to the local police command.
