A scientific article was published on the prestigious international magazine “Healthcare”, signed by the professors of the University of Messina Carmela Mento, associated with clinical psychology, and Francesco Pira, associated with sociology, and by the young researchers Clara Lombardo, Maria Catena Silvestri and Martina Praticò, which highlights the psychological implications and the outcomes of online violence based on the non -consensual diffusion of images known as Revenge Porn, a very widespread behavior, even between very young, and put in place for revenge, derision, also with the use of apps and artificial intelligence for denigratory purposes.
The scientific article in the narrative review appreciated by the magazine examined the psychological and emotional effects of the phenomenon, increasingly frequent and assimilable to non -consensual pornography. According to scientific literature, the phenomenon has caused victims of distrust, anxiety, social isolation, inability to find new sentimental partners, and several other effects on mental health have been found, such as depression and suicidal ideation. The authors for some years have been engaged in the prevention of suicidal risk in youth age connected to this phenomenon and to online behavioral risk.
A recent text is “Violence in one click” (Franco Angeli editions), in which they deal with the theme for preventive purposes in various schools in the Sicilian territory. The pira and chin professors are also directors of the magazine “Addiction & Social Media Communication” of the University of Messina.
