The Province of Cosenza communicates with great satisfaction that it has received the formal communication of the European Commission and the European Bank for the investments of definitive approval of the Eco – Energy for project, marking an important step forward towards a sustainable and innovative future for the provincial territory.
This is a path started in 2023 with the approval of the preliminary design and after about 2 years of intense work and interlocutions with the European Team of the Elena program, with a note of the European Commission last August 20, the project was admitted to financing for a total amount of € 2,008,000.00, of which € 1,807,200.00 equal to 90% financed with a contribution to the Elena and short.
“The full approval of the Eco project represents a fundamental goal for our province, which is confirmed as cutting -edge in the policies of sustainability and energy innovation. Thanks to this intervention, we can significantly improve environmental conditions, reduce energy costs and strengthen the resilience of our territory. I am convinced that this initiative will contribute to creating a more sustainable development model, involving communities, businesses and institutions in a shared path towards a greener and responsible future, “said President Rosaria Succurro.
The project, which involves the Cosenza Chamber of Commerce (CCIAA), the regional company for the development of agriculture in Calabria (Arsac), 22 municipalities and about 24 local companies, provides for total investments of 54 million euros. These funds will be intended for energy efficiency of public and private buildings, with particular attention to the construction of buildings at NZEB level – Net Zero Emission Building, which guarantee a balance between energy produced and consumed, minimizing carbon emissions.
The main objectives also include the establishment of 50 renewable energy communities – a fundamental step to promote the production and self -consumption of clean energy in the area – and the efficiency of strategic industrial infrastructures, thus contributing to the competitiveness of local businesses.
The entire initiative aims to generate concrete advantages: improvement of environmental conditions, significant energy and economic savings for citizens and businesses, and the promotion of a more conscious and responsible energy culture, capable of stimulating a positive change at the provincial level.
In particular, there are free forms of assistance in favor of the Municipalities, companies and the Arsac Authority starting from the technique relating to the realization of energy audits, to the financial one for the identification of the financing sources, including structural funds, to the legal and administrative ones for the preparation of the tender procedures according to the public procurement code, as well as to support in the physical and financial monitoring activities of the interventions to be carried out.
