Maxi seizure of mobile phones in the Cosenza prison: the Sappe on security alarm

This morning, in the Cosenza prison, after an extraordinary search that saw the use of the penitentiary police staff of the Cosenza department, in addition to numerous units from the rest of the region, about fifty cell phones have been found and seized, as well as about 50 grams of hashish and cocaine.

For some time now we have launched the alarm on the Cosenza prison – say Giovanni Battista Durante, General Secretary of Sappe and Francesco Ciccone, regional secretary – for the inadequate security conditions and for the abandonment in which the Penitentiary Police staff pay. Our recent visit had allowed us to ascertain the situations complained of by the staff we represent. We believe that the time has come to immediately bring the leaders of the Cosenza prison immediately, considering the inadequacy shown by them, both in the management of the safety of the prison, and in relationships with a substantial part of the staff, not only of police.
