Will the Calabrian regional council be tinged even more than in the past? In 2020, the introduction of the rules on gender representation and double preference was approved unanimously by the Council, in fact formally dissolved, that is, after the death of the complaint Jole Santelli.
The effects of this important modification to the electoral system were quite evident: there was three councilors elected in 2020, including the president of the region, to 6 elected in 2021. Six elected out of 30 represent 20 percent, much lower percentage, however, of the number of candidates on the lists. Each list was to present at least 40 percent of women and all lists, overall, sided 45.7 percent of women.
