It is an indiscretion, for the moment. But everything makes you believe it is reliable. The show Odyssey produced by Buongiorno Sicilia in the Alcantara gorges, with its continuous sold outs would have recorded, in the season that ended on Sunday, an overall figure of fifteen thousand spectators. Someone will say that in the past, even greater results had been achieved, but not in such a small period of time. The replicas of the theatrical work directed by Giovanni Anfuso began in fact this year on 24 July, with a number of spectators limited to two hundred per reply.
For this reason, therefore, at the end of the last show, in the area dedicated to the catering of the botanical and geological park of the Alcantara gorges, a big party took place to celebrate yet another success of a team that, since 2018, recalls spectators – and among these also many Italian and foreign tourists – and makes this valley rich. The architects of this small miracle are first of all the manufacturers of Buongiorno Sicilia – we are talking about President Simone Trischitta and the Ninni Trischitta executive producers and Luciano Catotti – who have been able to identify shows of great appeal and promote them in all Italy, also thanks to the participations, at the invitation of the Sicilian Region, to two editions of the international tourism stock exchange in Milan.
On one of these occasions, speaking with journalists, the director Giovanni Anfuso had remembered how, called by Buongiorno Sicilia to the task of stageing Dante’s hell in the gorges, he had created as if it were to let nature be the protagonist: from the river, which continues to murmur during the shows, to the colonnade basalt brought to light over the millennia from the water that modeled the ancient casting of an eccentric cone.
A magical place, the gorges, donated to us by Carmelo Vaccaro’s intuition, who in the sixties of the twentieth century thought of making his dream come true: to make the Alcantara gorges a tourist site of international interest. And that dream, still, continues, thanks to the work of the three children of Vaccaro: Maurizio, Antonino and Alessandro. All of them collaborated in the success of the show, a great car that saw about fifty people every evening. And among these, of course, the actors, long applauded in particular in the final show of the Odyssey.
Almost moved Davide Sbrogò, who played Odysseus Maturo, and the Messina Eugenio Papalia, in the role of the young Ulisse. But also Liliana Randi (Athena), Giovanna Mangiù (Circe and Penelope), (young Odysseus), Luciano Fioretto (Homer), Michele Carvello (Telemaco) and Pietro Casano (Zeus/Antinoo). And then Proci, crew, Feaci, Sirene and Amens, namely Gianmarco Arcadipane, Gaetano Bonanno, Alex Caramma, Roberto Carrubba, Tommaso Cernigliaro, Maria Landaloro, Enrica La Rosa, Riccardo Leone, Lucio Rapisarda, Francesco Rotatore, Gloria Triscitta and Rocco Vella. Yes, because this in this Kolossal, to tell the eternal story – and unfortunately very current, given the sixty wars in progress in the world – of Odysseus, twenty actors have been.
