With the start of the school year, the new youth discomfort prevention project and the difficulties of insertion dedicated to the students of the last year of middle schools and the first two years of high schools, called “let’s discuss us at school” and incardinated in the planning “Pr Calabria Fesr FSE 2021/2027-4-Incll priority” a more exclusive Calabria-ESO 4.11-action 4.Ki “starts.
“The project – is written in a note from the Provincial Healthcare Company of Catanzaro – strongly desired by the Calabria Region, starts from the data that show the worrying growth of adolescent discomfort, especially after the pandemic, fueled by several factors, from the first comparison with the competition to the improper use of social media. According to the Istat data known in December 2024, a teenager on two manifest signs of youth discomfort, and one out of two between 18 and 25 years of age must face anxiety and depression problems; These data are confirmed by the report “Post pandemic generation: needs and expectations of young people in the post Covid 19” developed by Censis in collaboration with the National Youth Agency. The school is the place where this discomfort finds evident forms of expression, with a drop in performance, tendency to isolation and other predictive signals; The objective of the project is therefore intercepting in advance conditions at risk – which manifest themselves with signals more easily readable by specialists – before they evolve into conclaimed forms of discomfort, through targeted interventions within schools and the activation of a voluntary access listening desk, which will also be able to welcome families; In the activities, school staff will also be involved ».
To start the project in recent days, 8 psychologists recruited with dedicated funds have taken service, which will operate according to methods already indicated by the Region in accordance with the healthcare companies and school offices, and which will be more attached to the individual school companies. Psychologists, during the pauses of school activity, will operate within the consultors; The figure of the school psychologist will also be able to contribute to the diagnosis of other forms of discomfort or latent subclinical situations, strengthening the garrisons to protect the health of young people, together with the figures dedicated to taking charge of young people bearers of learning disorders referred to in the DSA project; The project today was born as a pilot and can be implemented on the basis of the results of this first experience. Therefore, a network of specialist figures that support families and school in the most critical period of the growth of children, which represent the future of the communities, is therefore structured more and more.
With this strong awareness, to strengthen the social meaning of the project, the psychologists, together with Dr. Caloiero Director of the maternal Departments of childhood and the Dr. Napoli Scientific Manager of the project and director of the provincial network of the Consultors, met the mayor of Lamezia Terme Mario Murone, the vice mayor of Catanzaro Giusy Iemma and the mayor of Soverato Daniele Vacca, to be all ready to the first sound of the bell.
