Fifteen in prison and three at home. It is the result of an operation by the Carabinieri of Reggio which, flanked by the territorially competent stations and other departments of the weapon, carried out the ordinance issued by the investigating judge of Reggio Calabria at the request of the local prosecutor. The association dedicated to drug trafficking is contested, as well as numerous crimes on drugs, weapons and an extortion hypothesis.
The investigation, launched in June 2023 and ended in May 2024, focused on careful and continuous observation and monitoring activities of the Catona district of Reggio Calabria. During various patrolling services of the territory, the military had had the opportunity, on several occasions, to note anomalous movements in the area, near the home of the one who was considered in the custodial ordinance, in the state of the documents, the head of the association in question (subject for another grandson of an apical exponent of the Ndrangheta di Archi). The installation of a video surveillance system and the performance of multiple response activities led to the identification of an embryonic group of subjects dedicated to the trafficking of drugs.
