The commissioner of the province of Catanzaro has ordered the temporary closure of a bar in the center of Lamezia Terme for 15 days. The measure, which is based on article 100 of the Consolidated Law of the Public Security Laws, was taken following reports and a complaint by the residents. The bar had become a meeting point for individuals with criminal records, including crimes related to drugs, driving in a state of intoxication, crimes against the person, heritage and public order, and mafia -type association. Some visitors have also been convicted of serious crimes such as personal injuries, resistance to public officials, private and sexual violence, and extortion. This situation had created a climate of degradation and insecurity, generating alarm among the residents, also worried about the presence of their minor children in the area. The decision of the Quaestor to suspend the license of the venue was taken because the situation was considered “an objective danger for public security” which, if tolerated, could have worsened. This measure has a preventive nature and aims to protect the tranquility of the community and, in particular, that of minors.
