Thirty minutes. Only thirty minutes was enough this morning, around 8 am, to make the chaos burst in Catanzaro with the roads completely blocked in the center. Reason: parents and pupils of the Galluppi National Boarding board, not knowing where to stop waiting for the sound of the bell that sanctioned the beginning of the school year, thought it well to invade the roadway, effectively blocking traffic. Protest? Not apparently. No slogan has been marked, no sign to explain why the gesture. Only the fact of stopping in front of the entrance door of the institute to wait for the green light in order to let the children enter school.
This behavior has caused the traffic block on the part of Corso Mazzini which goes from the cavator to the entrance of the Galluppi boarding school. Traffic also blocked on Piazza Matteotti and via Indipendenza. In short, all motorists stopped in line, including many parents who had to accompany their children to school. Result: center blocked. This situation was not resolved even with the intervention of the municipal police officers who tried to move parents and pupils from the street, without success. Same thing as regards two carabinieri who were on the spot. The only solution that was found by local police officers was to try to deviate vehicles on alternative routes. A palliative for those who had to accompany their children to school.
The situation was resolved only after a few minutes from the sound of the bell when the children entered school and parents left. However, a reflection on what happened must be done: the boys go to school to learn the subjects, among which civic education is included, and then the parents not giving a good example by placing themselves safely in the middle of the road and blocking traffic. This is not the example to give to the younger generations if we want the boys to behave civilly. Otherwise let’s not complain about their behavior. Otherwise it’s all useless.
