The numerous “Caretta Caretta” turtle eggs found found in recent days in a nest dug on the beach in front of Vico Crisafulli of Guidomandri Marina, begin to hatch.
The newborn tortoys, out of the shell, try to reach the Ionian but do not succeed in their intent as the volunteers who are engaged in their protection, and who constantly station in the area, take them and transfer them to environments suitable for their survival. Only after some time will they be immersed in the waters of the sea. From the first inspections carried out by Messina’s WWF experts, coordinated by dr. Oleana Prato, it emerged that about 30 turtles left the nest which, presumably, had been excavated in the past months, since the eggs begin to hatch after a period of incubation that can last from 45 to 70 days.
The stretch of beach on which the nest was found was cordoned off and safeguarded with a protective fence to prevent some wild animal from destroying the entire nidiata.
