The Metropolitan Police of Messina strengthens its presence in the area with increasingly tight and coordinated controls, focusing on poaching, environmental crimes and infringements of the highway code. The body’s action is not limited to repression: it aims to guarantee safety, legality and environmental protection, with targeted and constant interventions in different sectors of city and rural life.
In the latest interventions, agents intervened in the Milazzo countryside, seizing numerous illegal decoys used to capture quail. This practice, prohibited by law to protect wildlife, represents a threat to the balance of the local ecosystem. The operation underlines PolMetro’s constant attention to the protection of biodiversity and the prevention of illegal behavior that damages the environment.
At the same time, the checks made it possible to identify and seize an illegal landfill in the area of Francavilla di Sicilia. The intervention confirms the body’s commitment to the fight against illicit waste management, combating practices that represent a danger to public health and the surrounding environment. This activity is part of a broader strategy of monitoring and protecting the territory, with the aim of preventing degradation and promoting responsible behavior among citizens and businesses.
The control activities also extended to the production sector: numerous companies were subjected to checks regarding the possession of environmental authorisations, with particular reference to the Single Environmental Authorization (AUA). This tool represents a fundamental pillar to guarantee compliance with current regulations, ensuring that production activities operate while respecting the environment and the safety of the community.
On the road safety front, the Metropolitan Police has intensified checks along the main provincial arteries and in the Municipality of Messina. The operations led to the imposition of numerous sanctions: several licenses were suspended for using a mobile phone while driving, while vehicles without insurance coverage or inspection were identified and fined. These concrete and targeted actions contribute to reducing the risk of accidents, improving the daily safety of motorists and pedestrians.
All these activities are part of a broader operational strengthening plan for the corps, led by the new commander, Colonel Domenico Martino. The objective is to further qualify the interventions and strengthen urban safety, with an increasingly incisive presence in the territory and an integrated approach to the different areas of expertise.
The action of the Metropolitan Police will continue in the coming months, with growing attention to protecting the environment and combating illegal conduct. The objective remains a progressive redevelopment of the territory, with a widespread presence and a timely response to the needs of the community, to guarantee safety, legality and quality of life for all citizens.
“The activities of the Metropolitan Police – states the metropolitan vice mayor Flavio Santoro – confirm the constant commitment of Palazzo dei Leoni in guaranteeing safety, legality and environmental protection throughout the provincial territory, ensuring an effective and coordinated presence at the service of the community”.
