“I have not received any motion of no confidence, accompanied by the alleged 39 signatures of which I learned yesterday from the press.” Teresa Esposito, the provincial secretary of the Democratic Party, is decidedly cryptic. She came under the scrutiny of the assembly which, less than a year ago, had elected her, with a significant percentage of advantage over her competitor, as head of the provincial secretariat of the Democratic Party. “Not knowing officially the reasons that would have led these people to ask for my resignation – she pointed out again – I have no intention, at the moment, of spontaneously throwing in the towel.”
What is certain is that the Vibo “case” will end up, within a few hours, on the table of the regional secretary Nicola Irto who will have to resolve a decidedly complex situation within the next 24/48 hours. It could then be he himself who advises the secretary on the best path to follow, although Teresa Esposito is intent on openly challenging the dissidents who have asked for her head.
