Collision between trains in Denmark, 17 injured: 5 are serious

The toll from a head-on collision between two local trains in Denmark is 17 injured, including 5 in serious condition. The accident occurred at a level crossing in Isterodvejen, north of Hillerod, about forty miles from Copenhagen.

At 6.30 in the morning, the Frederiksborg fire brigade received a report about the train accident.

According to reports from the capital’s emergency services, seven ambulances, two emergency vehicles, two emergency medical vehicles, three medical transport vehicles and an emergency manager were sent and an Armed Forces helicopter was used.

Rail traffic in the area will be stopped indefinitely, police said. The road section between Isterodvejen and Kagerup is closed and is expected to remain closed for an extended period.
