A triplet birth brightened the hospital on a day already dedicated to life and kindness, making April 30, 2026, a date the community will long remember. While the city welcomed the 72 children born in 2025 for the National Day of Kindness to Newborns – included in the Fairy Tale Festival “Reading in the city of Zaleuco” – an exceptional event took place in the Gynecology and Obstetrics department: the birth of Vanessa, Valeria and Valentina, triplets who were born with a preterm cesarean section which represents a unique case for the Locrian healthcare facility. The mother, Odion Iyare, a Nigerian citizen residing in Stignano together with her husband Monday Iyare, gave birth to three girls who are well and are currently monitored in the Pediatrics department. The family, already made up of four children, including a pair of twins, now has nine members. The birth was performed by the team of the Gynecology and Obstetrics department directed by Dr. Giuseppe Macrì, with a caesarean section conducted by doctors Rubio Rojas Reinerio and Barbara Circosta. The work of the midwives Federica Auddino and Letizia Carbone, the anesthetist and head physician Dr. Francesco Sinopoli and the collaboration of nurse Marinella Caroleo. For Paediatrics, directed by Dr. Rosanna Lia, Dr. Tails Rodriguez and nurses Filomena Zucco and Chiara Commisso were present, who guaranteed immediate and continuous assistance to the newborns. Impeccable teamwork, which allowed us to tackle a complex and rare birth with professionalism, timeliness and great humanity.
