The semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim raises doubts about the shooting that occurred during the White House correspondents’ dinner, in the presence of President Donald Trump. According to what was reported, the episode “gave rise to doubts and many questions from the first minutes”.
The suspicions raised by Tasnim
The Iranian agency speaks openly about possible inconsistencies, also referring to comments circulated online in the United States. “Numerous web users are wondering whether it is a setup and what Trump’s objective is,” we read, with the hypothesis that the episode could be exploited in view of the mid-term elections or from a geopolitical perspective.
Tasnim also recalls a precedent, the attempted attack during the electoral campaign, arguing that that episode would have been used for propaganda purposes. According to the agency, what happened at the gala could also be part of a similar strategy.
The statements cited
In relaunching the suspicions, the agency cites an alleged statement by White House spokeswoman Karoline Levitt, who would have spoken of a shooting before the start of the evening. An element indicated as a further cause for doubt.
Finally, the behavior of Trump himself is highlighted, who on social media showed himself determined and willing to stay at the ceremony despite what happened. An attitude which, according to Tasnim, would fuel further questions about the dynamics of the episode.
