In Melissa, in the Crotone area, the soldiers of the NORM – Aliquota Radiomobile of the Carabinieri Company of Cirò Marina, intervened in flagrante delicto following a report received by the local Operations Center regarding a violent family quarrel. The timely intervention made it possible to arrest a local citizen, held responsible for mistreatment and physical and psychological violence towards his wife.
The episode began in the middle of the night inside the family home. At the height of a disagreement, the man allegedly attacked his wife, requiring the immediate intervention of the Carabinieri and 118 healthcare personnel. The victim was immediately transported to the Crotone hospital for treatment.
Crime which immediately triggered the emergency procedure for the “Protection of victims of domestic and gender violence – Code Red”. The woman, although assisted by the military and informed about the support networks present in the area, refused to be transferred to a protected facility. At the end of the ritual activities, the arrested person was taken to his home under arrest, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. The related investigations are coordinated by the Crotone Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Domenico Guarascio.
