An important national recognition rewards the talent, competence and long professional career of the Messina cardiologist Diego Pancaldo, awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Italian Society of Echocardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging (Siecvi), during the XXII National Congress, which was held in recent days in Giardini Naxos. The recognition is given to professionals who stand out for scientific excellence, clinical experience and contribution to the development of cardiovascular diagnostic imaging, representing one of the most authoritative certificates of esteem attributed by the Italian cardiology community. The ceremony took place in the presence of the president of Siecvi Scipione Carerj, the board of directors of the scientific society and the illustrious professor Fausto Pinto, former president of the World Heart Federation, a reference figure in international cardiology.
Education and family roots
For Pancaldo, this is the culmination of a career built with passion, professional rigor and constant updating: he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Messina in 1999 with top marks and honours, and obtained his specialization in Cardiology in 2003. During his training years he attended the echocardiography laboratory at the Pertini Hospital in Rome, starting a path of in-depth study that would lead him to become one of the most qualified Italian specialists in the cardiovascular imaging sector. Son of art, Diego Pancaldo inherited his love for medicine from his father, the late Professor Andrea Pancaldo, originally from Siena and former head of infectious diseases at the Piedmont Hospital.
The centers of excellence and primacy in Savigliano
Over the years he has perfected his preparation in some centers of excellence such as the Ospedale del Cuore di Massa, the Institute of Clinical Physiology of the CNR in Pisa and the Humanitas in Rozzano, acquiring advanced skills in echocardiography, coronary CT scan and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, in addition to the relevant specialist certifications. Since 2003 he has worked in the complex Cardiology Structure of the Santissima Annunziata Hospital in Savigliano in the province of Cuneo, where he holds the role of head of cardiac diagnostic imaging; the company in which he works has recently distinguished itself at a national level, ranking first in Italy in the Agenas ranking, a further reason for satisfaction for the Messina professional.
The human value of the finish line
Alongside the professional satisfaction, the recognition received at Giardini Naxos had above all a profound human and family value: the joy of this important achievement was shared with his dearest loved ones, who have always accompanied and supported his journey, mother Rita, his sisters Giusi and Sonia, and his wife Marika.
