They made purchases with the “Family Card” registered in the name of others without their knowledge. It is the story at the center of the trial which ended with three acquittals and a conviction. The crimes of impersonation and fraud were contested for various reasons.
The facts date back to 2020, the accusation contested purchases of a few euros made in supermarkets and city shops with the Family Card, the shopping vouchers that the Municipality had provided during Covid for families in economic difficulty. The contribution was accessed through a platform by entering certain parameters. The investigations were started following the complaint of a citizen who had tried to access the contribution but was told that he already had a Family Card.
The sentence is from judge Antonella Crisafulli who acquitted Annamaria La Boccetta, Concetta Girone and Tatiana Saraceno. Danilo Romano was instead sentenced to one year but was partially acquitted of some charges. The judge reclassified the fraud as undue receipt of public funds. In this case, given that the figures are modest, it is an administrative offence, the judge therefore sent the documents to decide on the relevant sanction. The thesis of the defense represented by the lawyers Salvatore Carroccio, Cinzia and Ignazio Panebianco, Nino Cacia and Gabriele Lombardo was accepted. (le.ba.)
