He was good at school, and also had a passion for singing and, above all, rapping. The motorbike was the gift for the promotion, he had had it for a very short time. No one, among those who knew him, can believe that it ended like this.
Riccardo Coglitore, 15 years old, attended IE at the “Verona Trento” high school. It was his first year, but he had settled in very well, so much so that he broke the ice and decided to immediately go on stage at “Verona Trento’s got Talent”, the format in which many school students, at the end of the year, try their hand at what they do best: for Riccardo it was singing, and singing rap.
He presented himself at the initial selections with “Quelli che non pensiero” by Marracash and Coez, and then reached the Palacultura final by performing “Powerslap”, one of Marracash’s latest successes, two very difficult songs that Riccardo had interpreted with great passion and determination. He also attended the “On Stage” Academy of Musical and Acting. He was a cheerful boy, full of life and ideas. His classmates and teachers who accompanied him in this first year at the “Verona Trento” institute were devastated and incredulous. An inconsolable pain for them and for the entire school community. Tomorrow, the director Luigi Genovese will activate a fundraiser for the family to whom, in this very sad moment, all the condolences and support of the school go.
The news of the young life lost on the street immediately spread like wildfire. Numerous children, even the young man’s age, some with their parents, wanted to go to the scene of the accident. Some could not hold back their tears and despair, many were in disbelief that such a tragedy could have happened. Riccardo – an only child – lived with his family in Santa Lucia, he also attended Paride Acacia’s On Stage musical and acting academy and those who knew him describe him as a quiet, amiable boy.
The memory of the Verona-Trento Institute: “The time you were granted was too short”
And again: “Riccardo was full of life, always on the move, always projected towards what he loved. It was impossible not to notice his presence, just as today it is impossible not to feel the emptiness of his absence. The pain that goes through our school community is immense. Our moved and sincere embrace reaches his family. Hello Riccardo, even if the time given to you was too short, the memory you leave will be much greater than time itself. The entire community of Verona Trento clings to the pain of the family of our young student.”
The school office: “Today the school is in mourning”
“Today the Messina school is in mourning. The tragic death of Riccardo Coglitore leaves us astonished and wounded; a young talent, a 15-year life cut short too soon.
As a superintendent, but even before that as a father and an educator, my thoughts turn to the empty desk that Riccardo will leave in the classroom of the ‘Verona Trento’, to the dreams that are abruptly interrupted.
On behalf of the entire school community, I extend a thought of deep condolences to his parents, his family, his classmates and the entire ‘Verona Trento’ Institute. The entire Messina school gathers around them with immense respect and closeness, in a prayerful silence that wants to embrace an unspeakable pain.
Rest in peace, Riccardo”. This was stated by Leon Zingales, director of the provincial school office.
Mayor Federico Basile’s message to the family
A tragedy that leaves us speechless and deeply affects the entire community. Riccardo’s young life, cut short at 15, leaves our city dismayed. I express my most sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to his family and all his loved ones in this moment of immense pain.
Pain also for the Holy Family Parish of CEP
“Our parish community is close to the family of Riccardo, who at the age of 15 ended his earthly life in a road accident – writes Don Sergio Siracusano – Riccardo had my first Communion here as a child. We pray for him and his parents. May the Lord console their hearts in this moment of great trial.”
