New prestigious recognition for Eugenio Morrone, world ice cream champion originally from Zagarise, who has obtained the Three Cones of Gambero Rosso, the highest national recognition awarded to the best ice cream parlors in Italy.

The recognition was attributed to the activities of the award-winning master ice cream maker, already included in the Hall of Fame of the Gelato Festival World Ranking, Maestro Apei (Ambassadors of Pastry Chefs of Italian Excellence) and Ambassador of Aig (Italian Association of Ice Cream Makers).

The new taste of summer

The start of the summer season and the Gambero Rosso event “Rotte Mediterranee”, hosted in Naples, represented the opportunity for Morrone to present the new flavor intended to accompany the summer of 2026: basil, cedar and olive leaf.

A proposal that focuses on sustainability and the recovery of raw materials, valorising ingredients that are often little used but strongly linked to the Mediterranean agricultural tradition.

«Basil is a symbol of freshness, cedar represents one of the oldest citrus fruits of our culture and the olive leaf is a part of the tree almost never used in ice cream making. This new flavor comes from agricultural recovery which, when transformed, restores value to the raw material”, explains Morrone.

Tradition and innovation

With Rome already dealing with the first summer heat waves, the new ice cream is set to be among the most original proposals of the season. A taste that combines research, innovation and attention to the environment, elements that have characterized the professional path of the Calabrian master ice cream maker for years.

Yet another recognition obtained with the Three Cones of Gambero Rosso thus confirms the role of Eugenio Morrone among the reference figures of Italian and international ice cream making.
