The lists for the renewal of the Metropolitan Council have been filed and the first spoiler on the new municipal council has also arrived. It was the mayor of Reggio Calabria, Francesco Cannizzaro, who announced it through a video published on his social channels, in which he took stock of the candidatures for Palazzo Alvaro and anticipated one of the most anticipated appointments of the city executive.

In his speech, the mayor explained that three lists with 42 candidates were presented, underlining the desire to guarantee widespread representation of the entire metropolitan area.
«A few minutes ago we filed the lists for the renewal of the Metropolitan Council and we maintained our commitment throughout the electoral campaign, namely to give maximum representation to the entire area of the province and this was the case because we filed three lists with 42 candidates. 99% of the 42 candidates are mayors and administrators from the entire province.”
Cannizzaro then reiterated the approach he intends to give to the metropolitan body:
«I have always maintained that if I had become the mayor of the city I would not have allowed a Reggio-centric metropolitan council to be created because whoever was elected in Reggio Calabria will have to work with me every day to improve its fortunes and so it will be.»

But the passage that has attracted the most attention concerns the composition of the new municipal council, still awaited after the mayor’s inauguration. Precisely on this front Cannizzaro has decided to launch a preview.
«And speaking of Reggio Calabria, I allow myself a small spoiler. To be the deputy mayor of the city of Reggio Calabria, to be my deputy mayor, it will be a woman, but not only in form, but also in substance and competence and perhaps tomorrow I will also tell you who it will be.»
