The financiers of the Crotone Provincial Command, on the orders of the Anti-Mafia District Prosecutor’s Office of Catanzaro, have carried out an asset seizure order issued by the Court of Catanzaro – Prevention Measures Section against an entrepreneur, who has been operating for years in the sector of installation and maintenance of electrical systems, believed to be close to an ‘Ndrangheta gang active in the Crotone province.
The provision represents the outcome of a complex asset investigation activity carried out by the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Crotone Financial Police. According to what was reported by the investigators, the proposal to apply the measure is based on the qualified social dangerousness of the recipient, also deduced from a conviction issued by the Court of Catanzaro for various crimes, including attempted extortion aggravated by the mafia method and mafia facilitation.
Properties and banking relationships seized
The investigations made it possible to reconstruct the assets attributable, directly and indirectly, to the entrepreneur, identifying assets and financial resources believed to have been acquired with the proceeds of the contested illicit activities or in any case disproportionate compared to the declared incomes.
In particular, the asset investigations, referring to the period between 2010 and 2022, also concerned bank investigations aimed at reconstructing the origin of the sums used in the financial investments made by the suspect, including through his family members.
According to what was highlighted by the Financial Police, in the current phase of the proceedings – in which the cross-examination with the parties has not yet been established – a significant disproportion has emerged between the accumulated assets and the lawful income declared by the proposed party and his family unit.
In execution of the decree of the Court of Catanzaro, three real estate assets and banking relationships in the name of or attributable to the entrepreneur were seized, for a total value of over 150 thousand euros.
