Change in leadership of the administrative area of the Municipality of Aprigliano, while the competition for the hiring of a local police officer is still underway. The group “Together we can. Aprigliano, the town I would like” raised doubts about the matter, which intervened through a long public post. The previous manager of the administrative area, engineer De Napoli, has left his position. In his place, with a decree signed by the mayor, the deputy mayor was appointed.
According to what was reported by the group, the reason given for the switch was linked to the “unsustainability of the workload”. An explanation on which “Together we can” invites clarification, recalling that the person in charge had followed the different phases of the insolvency procedure starting from last December.
Doubts about the management of the competition
“The administrative manager prepared the notice, appointed the commission, defined the criteria and guidelines, followed the tests and corrected the documents”, claims the group, which wonders why the withdrawal came just when the competition process is nearing its conclusion. «In our opinion – we read in the post – the real unsustainability is not that of the workload, but that of the continuous interference of politics in a public competition».
The group therefore reiterates a question already asked in recent weeks: «Who is really managing this competition? The competent offices or the political rooms?”. The appointment of the deputy mayor, according to “Together we can”, would contribute to further fueling doubts about the management of the procedure. Criticism is also directed at the mayor’s choice to entrust the task to his deputy. «Once again – states the group – the mayor avoids directly assuming political responsibility and transfers everything to the deputy mayor». Furthermore, according to the movement, the person identified would not have “the necessary experience to hold such a delicate role in a complex office, especially in such an important phase of the competition”. The group announces further insights on the issues of impartiality and transparency.
Criticism of the administrative situation
The matter is included in a broader evaluation of the functioning of the municipal administration. «It is the photograph of the administrative chaos in which our Municipality finds itself», claims “Together we can”, according to which in recent years various figures of guarantee and responsibility have not been able to remain permanently in their positions. The group recalls, in particular, the turnover in two years of four municipal secretaries, two auditors and three managers of the administrative area. The post also recalls the cancellation for five years from the Civil Service Register, attributed to “serious irregularities”, and the declaration of predisposition or failure, indicated by the group as the first in the history of the Municipality of Aprigliano. «This, for us, is the real unsustainability», concludes the movement, announcing that it will continue to follow the competition for the hiring of the traffic policeman and to inform citizens about future developments.
