Telling it just outside the Carabinieri barracks where he was heard by the magistrates is Pasquale D’Alì, one of the three investigated for the collapse of the Pistunina building, accompanied by the lawyer Antonello Scordo. The first to speak was the lawyer: «My client answered the questions, all the questions that were asked of him and I believe that he also offered a useful contribution to the investigations. Why was he inside the supermarket? He had an assignment and had basically worked an hour and a half. It was that very day that he had started. Maintenance was entrusted to him by the building owners. His activity was truly at the beginning and in any case an activity that was absolutely, in my view, certainly not connected to what happened, the collapse.”
So a knot that could be an absolute novelty. «There were other workers – says the lawyer – they were clearly not workers of my client, they were workers of… I don’t know who they were. My client’s work had begun that day. In reality it was just a way to check the condition of some pillars that had cracks. Talking about jobs… They weren’t jobs, they were. It was a preparatory activity for the start of the works. As far as my client is concerned, I can’t say anything else. I repeat, my client had come in that day. But there were tilers, I think those who had an interest in fixing up the supermarket.”
And in the end it was also D’Alì himself who spoke: «Emotionally I feel terrible. And as for me, I feel so sorry for the people who died. And that’s it, I don’t know what to say. I heard some noises, a couple of seconds passed… I just felt like running away and that’s it. I was hit by rubble, but I don’t remember… I took a hit, so I ran away. I was 10 meters from the exit. Enough, I don’t know, I don’t know what else to say. I was there for half an hour, half an hour alone…”.
