The excuses remain, the mistake is acknowledged, but it takes us a long time to transform an over the top reaction into a sentence on the whole affair. This, in short, is the starting point of the lawyers of Arturo Abruzzo, owner of the El Sombrero bathing establishment, who ended up at the center of a case that quickly crossed regional borders from Soverato. The matter exploded after a complaint from some customers who claimed to have found a spot occupied by other bathers for the entire season. A situation resulting from an agreement, the Sombrero owner claimed, returning the accusations to the sender. The case quickly became media coverage after a video featuring Abruzzo as the protagonist, the methods and tone of which sparked controversy to the point of reaching a national dimension. Abruzzo then recognized the inappropriateness of its reaction and apologized, while the reconstruction of the facts that gave rise to the clash remains controversial.
After days of controversy, videos, comments and positions, it is the entrepreneur’s defenders – the lawyers Eugenio Felice Perrone and Sara Spanò – who ask that the matter be reported “within the boundaries of correctness and ascertainment of the facts”. No attempt to justify the tones used during the now viral confrontation. On this point the position is clear: Abruzzo “recognised the inappropriateness of its reaction and apologised”.
