The superintendent of the National Institute of Ancient Drama Foundation, Daniele Pitteri, has resigned from his position. An exit by slamming the door if the rumors were to be confirmed according to which Pitteri had already submitted his resignation twice, then ending his dialogue with the board of directors of Inda in recent days through his lawyers. The resignation was submitted on August 7.
Pitteri had participated in a tender and was appointed in March 2025 by the Ministry of Culture. After less than a year and a half, the essayist and curator of cultural activities and events decided to end a complicated relationship due to the duties of superintendent sometimes conflicting with those of the managing director. The first resignation dates back to before the start of the season in May, but it would have been the president of the Foundation, the mayor Francesco Italia, who temporarily “returned” the decision. But reconciling the disagreements with the Foundation’s governance would have been impossible.
The former superintendent preferred not to make any statement. A long and substantial CV had allowed him to win the coveted seat. Pitteri has collaborated with the Venice Biennale, the David di Donatello Award, the French Institute of Naples. Communication and marketing expert in cultural heritage and activities, professor of cultural communication and marketing at the Sapienza University of Rome. Pitteri had replaced Valeria Told, appointed in March 2023, the first woman to hold this role, and who resigned surprisingly in February 2024.
