Cosenza takes the lead but is caught up and overtaken by Cerignola. Coppitelli’s boys thus return empty-handed from Puglia. A hard-fought and brilliant first half at the “Monterisi” with the home team starting off strong immediately, creating two good opportunities. In the 25th minute, a nice insertion by McJannet, assisted by Almaviva, who shoots to the far post and puts his team ahead, 0-1. Five minutes later, in the 30th minute, Perlingieri’s shot was deflected by Iliev: Gambale found the tap-in on the rebound which was worth the draw. A little less brilliant recovery. Cosenza tries some offensive sorties with McJannet and Almaviva trying some ideas. In the 77th minute the home team took the lead. Newly substitute D’Orazio puts in a poisonous cross for Sena’s head who pierces the goalkeeper and puts his team ahead. 2-1. In the final the Apulians came close to scoring again with D’Orazio and in injury time they instead found the 3-1 with Vinciguerra who put the final seal on the match.
