Six drivers caught while intoxicated, four people reported and as many locals fined. This is the balance sheet of the extraordinary territorial control service carried out by the local police of Reggio Calabria in the night between Friday and Saturday.
16 units were used in the activities, with two mobile stations, four cars, three breathalyzer precursors, a breathalyzer and a drug test device. Officers checked 97 vehicles and breathalyzed over 70 drivers.
Six drivers, mostly aged between 25 and 35, were found to be intoxicated. Four were reported because the blood alcohol level detected was higher than 0.80 grams per litre.
He doesn’t stop and tries to escape
During a checkpoint, a motorist did not stop and attempted to flee. A patrol chased him and stopped him after a few meters. Subjected to the alcohol test, he tested positive with a blood alcohol level three times higher than the legal limit. He was also sanctioned for failing to comply with the order given by the officers.
The checks also involved the Reggio nightlife venues. The local police contested one violation for illegal abandonment of waste, one for failure to comply with the urban police regulation, with the consequent urban waste, and one for disorderly drunkenness.
Four premises sanctioned
During the service, numerous public establishments were inspected. Four businesses were sanctioned for illegal occupation of public land.
The overall toll is six licenses withdrawn, 52 administrative violations and four people reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. Similar services will continue in the coming days and throughout the summer period.
For the persons referred, the principle of the presumption of innocence applies until a possible definitive determination of responsibility.
