Not just Pnrr: Calabria also takes into account the ERDF and FSE+. European funds in the spotlight, with the double side of the coin of resources that have become works and services, on the one hand, and projects that have never started on the other. And if on the National Recovery and Resilience Plan the latest dossier of the Research Service of the Chamber and the Senate places Calabrian local authorities among the rear with 15.6% of completed projects (out of 6.2 billion), as of 31 July 2026 the Regional Program of Community Funds 2021-2027 certifies 2,785 selected operations, for a total eligible cost of 1.57 billion euros, against an endowment overall finance of approximately 2.96 billion euros.
The data, in black and white, come from the periodic survey published on the “Calabria Europa” portal and concern the resources of the ERDF and the ESF+, the two funds through which the programming of community resources is implemented by the Region. The summary is that the value of the operations in progress corresponds to 53% of the financial endowment: the ERDF, against an endowment of 2.307 billion, is detaching 1,404 selected operations for 1.265 billion euros; the ESF+, flat at 654.6 million, bubbled 1,381 operations for 305 million. The largest “slice” of the cake, for the ERDF, takes the form of priority 1 (more competitive and intelligent Calabria) which reaches 766 selected operations for 413.9 million euros, while for the ESF+ it is made up of “employment opportunities” with 988 selected operations for a total of 92.7 million.
